Crating

Crating is about protection. Keeping equipment safe from dings, scratches, impact, and climate. But there’s more to it than just a wooden box. The base construction, interior materials, temperature, humidity and wood grade all vary depending on where and how a crate needs to travel.

At Three Way Logistics, we build every crate with the full transit journey in mind. As a full-service logistics company, we manage every step of the process. From packing, loading, and transport to delivery, unpacking, rigging, and installation. That end-to-end perspective shapes how we build each crate.

Industry-Specific Crating

Many crates need to be custom-built. Weight, balance, shipping method, and the sensitivity of the equipment all factor into the design. We draw on our logistics expertise for each industry to engineer the right solution for each piece:

  • Semiconductor: Tools, finished goods, used equipment, wafers, and more
  • Data Center: Servers, server racks, battery cabinets, CRAHs/CRACs, and more
  • Aerospace: Structural components, turbines, satellites, CNC equipment, and more
  • Medical Equipment: CT scanners, lab equipment, surgical robots, and more
  • Electrical: PDUs, switchgear, UPSs, e-houses, and more

Our Crating Process

Every crate starts with an analysis of the piece being shipped and a custom solution designed around it. From there, fabrication happens at our facility.

Some pieces require fully custom crates built from scratch. Others can be handled with pre-built packaging solutions from our existing inventory. Either way, the work is done in-house by our team.

Once the crate is ready, we transport it to your site, pack and secure the equipment, and prepare it for shipping or storage. Our team also handles any follow-up needs: additional crating, uncrating, or modifications. From start to finish.
